🎓 Schools Should Teach, Not Preach

🎓 Schools Should Teach, Not Preach

Reform UK’s plan to bring British education back to common sense

Ask most parents what they want from a school, and it’s not complicated:

– Teach my kid to read, write, and add up
– Keep them safe
– Be honest about biology
– And maybe stop handing out rainbow lanyards before Year 9

What we’ve got instead?

– Behaviour in freefall
– Kids failing basic literacy
– Teachers scared to speak up
– And parents called bigots for wanting to know what’s actually being taught

Labour and the Tories let this mess fester.
Reform UK says: absolutely not.

📉 The State of British Schools Right Now

Let’s not sugar-coat it:

– Over 25% of kids leave primary school unable to read or write properly
– 1.6 million pupils are now persistently absent
– Classrooms are a battleground of disruption, violence, and iPads
– Gender ideology is being taught as fact — behind parents’ backs
– Teachers are expected to be therapists, referees, and social workers — all before lunch
– SEND provision? Buckling. Waiting lists out the door, support underfunded

This isn’t education. It’s a slow-motion collapse — padded with buzzwords.

💡 Reform UK’s Fix: Back to Basics

Here’s what we’d do, clearly and unapologetically:

– Ban all political and ideological indoctrination
No more gender lessons, race guilt sessions, or activist propaganda in schools.

– Restore full parental rights and transparency
Parents have a right to see exactly what their kids are learning. No secrets. No hiding behind “safeguarding” excuses.

– Bring back discipline
Support teachers. Back up heads. Kick out violent pupils. Full stop.

– Refocus on the Three Rs
Reading, writing, arithmetic. Basics first. Gimmicks later. Or never.

– Sort out SEND properly
Scrap the waiting lists. Fund the support. Stop failing the families who need help the most.

– End the performative nonsense
No more compulsory Pride flags. No forced pronoun rituals. No training from lobby groups trying to turn teachers into activists.

– Let teachers teach
Get the lesson plans off Twitter. No more rewriting the curriculum to keep up with TikTok.

🧾 A Quick Word to the VAT-Hit Parents

And yes — before anyone asks — we do see what’s happening to parents who dared to choose private school.

You paid taxes like everyone else, and chose to cover your own child’s education. Now you're being smacked with 20% VAT on school fees, and schools are losing business rate relief too.

Reform UK has pledged to protect schools under threat from Labour’s tax raid — because fairness should apply to every family. Not just the ones who can’t afford fees, and not just the ones Labour likes.

We’re not here to punish parents for making different choices. We’re here to fight for all of them.

🧠 Education Isn’t Therapy

Let’s be clear:

– Four-year-olds don’t need to “explore their gender identity”
– Biology isn’t a debate topic
– And no school should ever transition a child in secret

You want to teach respect? Great.
But don’t lie to children, gaslight parents, or force teachers into activist roles they never signed up for.

📢 The Bottom Line

British schools are supposed to prepare children for life — not activism.

Reform UK will bring the whole system back to:

– Parental rights
– Real standards
– Actual discipline
– And zero ideology in the classroom

We’re not here to pander. We’re here to rebuild.

Because if your kid can’t read by 11 but knows how to fill out a Stonewall identity wheel…
something’s gone seriously wrong.
