🗳️ They Work for Us, Remember?

Reform UK’s plan to restore democratic accountability and give power back to the people
Somewhere along the way, our politicians forgot who they work for.
We elect them, we fund them, we live with the consequences of their decisions — and yet they carry on like we’re the nuisance and they’re the ruling class.
They ignore referendums.
They scrap manifestos the moment they get into power.
They flip-flop, lie, and deflect — and if you call them out? You’re labelled “extreme.”
We’re not extreme. We’re fed up.
And we’re not the ones who should be under constant scrutiny — they should be.
🛑 What’s Gone Wrong
– MPs routinely vote against the will of their constituents
– Ministers dodge responsibility — resigning one day, back in Cabinet the next
– No real recall powers for the public if an MP breaks trust
– Civil servants and quangos influencing major policy decisions with zero accountability
– The courts interfering with democratic mandates, using EU-era law as cover
– Human Rights Act weaponised to block deportations and protect criminals
– Unelected Lords still making laws in 2025 like it’s 1825
And we’re supposed to just sit back and accept this because it’s “the system”?
No thanks.
🔧 Reform UK’s Fix: Real Power Back in Public Hands
Democracy doesn’t mean voting once every 5 years and being ignored in between.
We want real democratic accountability — every day.
Here’s how we’ll do it:
– British Bill of Rights to replace the Human Rights Act — protect real rights, not criminal loopholes
– A proper written constitution — so politicians can’t twist the rules as they go
– Legally binding referendums — no more re-runs or backtracking
– Direct democracy tools — where people can petition for policies and votes
– Power of recall — if your MP breaks faith, you get to boot them out
– End the unelected Lords — replace them with a smaller, elected second chamber
– Slash the size of government — fewer ministers, fewer departments, fewer excuses
– Rein in civil service power — public servants should serve, not control policy
This isn’t a revolution. It’s a reset.
🧠We’re Not Asking for Chaos. We’re Demanding Clarity.
It’s not “populist” to want politicians to do what they said they’d do.
It’s not “dangerous” to ask judges to respect democracy.
And it’s not “far right” to expect criminals to face consequences.
It’s just common sense.
Reform UK believes the British public should be in charge of Britain.
Not ignored. Not overruled. In charge.
And with a proper Bill of Rights and a real democratic overhaul — that’s exactly what we’ll deliver.
